Rock
Music was at it's best in the 70's, a feast. Traffic,
Jethro
Tull, Pink
Floyd, David
Bowie, Genesis,
Uriah
Heep, Hawkwind,
Mountain,
Golden
Earring, East
of Eden, Led
Zeppelin, Frank
Zappa, Pink
Fairies, Gong,
Cockney
Rebel, Edgar
Broughton Band, Roxy
Music,
to name a few, an endless banquet of great music with lyrics to match.
However, 70s Rock music unquestionably had it's roots in the 60's, and
even deeper down into the 50's. Groups like the Yardbirds introduced
Guitarists Eric Clapton, Jeff
Beck and Jimmy Page. The
Small Faces
introduced Steve Marriott, Ronnie Lane, and later as the Faces, vocalist
Rod Stewart. John
Mayall with his Bluesbreakers also affected the course
Rock Music took as did The
Doors, Soft
Machine, Cream,
Pink
Floyd, The Mothers Of Invention and others. And of course
there were the
Beatles
and the
'Stones. What better way is there to thank these artists,
than by acknowledging, sharing and introducing their gifts to others
who love music?
Here I
will put the Lyrics, YouTube videos and Rockwords, (70s Rock Crosswords,
with the answers in the Lyrics) of my favorite L.P.'s, from
1967, to 1979
not the charts, and look closely at some of the covers, etc.(please
bear with me, it's slow going with one finger) and try and make it as
enjoyable,
and helpful as possible. Of course,as you will see, I use the term 70's
Rock extremely lightly to cover any of the music that I listened to
and enjoyed, (it's basically just my record collection and some others)
during that incredible decade of Music, Motorcycles
and wonderful
enduring Friendships.
The proverbial Wine, Women and Song. The Robbie's
Rocks section is just a scrap book of old and new memories.
(By the way, please excuse the multitude of errors which I'm slowly
sorting out.)
Also thanks to all those whose YouTube videos I've embedded. Mostly
thanks and recognition is due to those who wrote the songs. Thanks!
