1973.
This was the year that the world changed forever. The oil embargo rocketed the
fuel price and in
South Africa, the price of everything else as well. Speed limits were set at
70 kmh on the open roads and
dodging the many speed traps took extreme concentration. Both the Buffalo Rally
down in Aliwal North,
and the Trout
up at Inyanga in Rhodesia were brilliant runs, what jols. In April, Mac and
I spent three weeks
in London and three weeks hitch hiking around Europe. What an experience, particularly
seeing the live show
Jesus
Christ Superstar at the Palace Theatre in London, incredible. As far as
Rock Music is concerned, 1973
produced more Grand L.P.'s than any other year, in my opinion, the
best were Gong's Flying
Teapot,
Dark Side Of The
Moon from Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Houses
Of The Holy, David Bowie with Aladdin
Sane,Frank Zappa's Overnite
Sensation....... There were just so many good ones that it is difficult
to place
them in order of best to last. Anyway have a look at my selection, and listen
to some incredible music.
